“Do you believe in coincidences? Or do you consider everything is predestined, and whatever happens, happens for a reason?” One of my friends asked me a few days back. I was conflicted because, for me, they are not mutually exclusive, I believe coincidences happen for a reason!

Many years ago, I met a stranger — let’s call him McDreamy! McDreamy because he had every characteristic of McDreamy from Grey’s Anatomy — good looking, successful, charming, and a pleasant personality and also because, for many days after meeting, I thought it was my daydream and not something which transpired in real!

He was so cheerful, loaded with energy, confidence, and enthusiasm. Even after facing some of the biggest challenges in life, he had no complaints or regrets. His passion for work and life to make the world a better place to live was remarkable. It was astonishing to see the love and respect he had for people in his life, and he was eager to talk to everyone around him as if he wants to make the most of every moment.

I’m sure meeting McDreamy was serendipity! Getting to know him, speaking with him for a few hours before walking our separate ways reminded me of that overlooked desire to be happier. I didn’t realize when I began to compromise and started feeling okay with whatever I was getting, rather than fighting for what I deserve. Meeting him was the push I needed to look back at me in the rearview mirror and smile, appreciate that girl who has faced hurdles in life to come out stronger than ever! That push was what I needed to regain the faith that I’m still the same person!

Sometimes, we just need to recognize the subtle signs this universe sends our way to remind us to believe in ourselves, to get back to the path of success, to fight for what is right, and to be the best possible version of ourselves!

You meet everyone for a reason, apparently, quote we read more often than not these days, but don’t believe in it until we meet that someone who gives us a reason to believe in it by helping us achieve something! But what we don’t recognize is that at times, we are meeting someone because we are the reason for them to accomplish something! Just like the reason McDreamy met me - he was a godsend to give me back the hope that I somehow lost in the process.

We don’t recognize, but unknowingly we inspire people, we encourage them to deal with big battles when we share a smile with them, by speaking about something random we help them see the path when they are feeling clueless! We don’t give ourselves enough credit that we can be a reason for someone to decide not to give up!

A simple hug, a smile, a kind word can go a long way! Even if you are not contributing to some great cause, not starting some great movement to improve mankind, don’t ever think that you are not important enough to make a change! If you can do all of that, that’s great, but even if you don’t have the means or circumstances to do something exceptional, just be kind, and you can be that spark someone needs to do something outstanding this world needs!
